Guide to Adhesive Dot Tack Levels

November 9th, 2008

One of the most frequently asked questions we get is about glue dot tack levels — “Which tack level is right for my project?”.  “What’s the difference between ‘High’ and ‘Super High’”?    Here’s a guide to help you pick the right tack level.

  • Low — Low tack dots are designed for affixing paper and other lightweight items.  For instance, coupons, business cards and other light stock.
  • Medium — Medium tack dots are designed to hold thick paper and plastic items.  You can attach credit cards, brochures and other medium weight items with these dots.
  • High — High tack are great when you have a heavy item that you want to be sure stays in place.  These dots will hold magnets, product samples and heavily coated paper stock.
  • Super High — Super High tack dots are the strongest available.  They can be used for permanent applications such as sealing cases.  If you want to affix an item so that it’s difficult to remove, this is your dot.

Whatever your project calls for, we have a dot that will work.  Check out our Glue Dots page for great prices on Glue Dot Rolls.  We also sell Glue Dot Value Packs in smaller quantities.

Rumors Swirling about USPS Rate Increases

October 29th, 2008

Dead Tree Edition reports that Periodical mailers could be facing high rate increases in 2009. If the USPS determines releases information that they are losing money on periodical mailings they will be forced by law to raise rates. For more information, check out the article here: http://deadtreeedition.blogspot.com/2008/10/big-postage-increases-ahead-for.html

How will this affect mailhouses and direct mail marketers?   It’s hard to say for sure but certainly a trickle down effect could occur.  To offset increased mailing costs periodicals may decide to raise advertising rates.  And when advertising rates rise, advertisers will be forced to choose between periodical advertising and direct mail advertising.

What effect do you think this will have?  We welcome your comments!

How Long will the USPS Monopoly Continue?

October 21st, 2008

DirectMag.com reported recently that the USPS is pledging to continue providing universal service and to hold onto it’s mail service monopoly. The USPS is required to submit a report to the Postal Regulatory Commission in December with details on how it will maintain universal service, ensuring affordable service to all Americans.

What exactly “Universal Service” means is anyones guess.   Recently, USPS stopped providing Postal Rubber Bands to bulk mail customers. Are Priority Mail Envelopes next? How long before they suspend Saturday delivery?
